Additionally, Georgia offers beautiful and mild winters and is within reasonable driving distance to many desirable locations in northern and central Florida, as well as the Gulf of Mexico and the Atlantic Coast.

McLane Funeral Homes is a market-leader, has three different locations, and beautiful buildings and grounds.  Valdosta is a charming small city, with excellent public schools, and many attractions and venues nearby.

Position: Funeral Home Director
Location: 2215 N. Patterson St. Valdosta, GA, 31602
Shift: Less than 45 hrs. a week, with every other weekend off  (2-3 days on-call per week)
Salary: $55,000-$60,000 with Performance Based Bonuses

Requirements:

  • Associate’s degree in Mortuary Science or Funeral Service Education.
  • Valid Funeral Director and Embalmer licenses in the state of Georgia (or ability to obtain).
  • Previous experience in funeral directing, embalming, and funeral home management.
  • Strong communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills.
  • Compassionate and empathetic approach to serving grieving families.
  • Knowledge of funeral service regulations, procedures, and best practices
  • Ability to work independently, handle multiple responsibilities, and maintain professionalism in sensitive situations.
  • Commitment to delivering exceptional customer care.

Job Description:

  • Meet with bereaved families to discuss funeral arrangements, guiding them through the process with compassion and empathy.
  • Coordinate and manage funeral services, including viewings, ceremonies, and interments, in accordance with the family's wishes and legal requirements.
  • Conduct embalming procedures and prepare deceased individuals for viewing and burial, adhering to industry standards and regulations.
  • Handle administrative tasks such as completing death certificates, obtaining necessary permits, and managing contracts and documentation.
  • Supervise funeral home staff, providing leadership, training, and support to ensure smooth operations and exceptional customer service.
  • Maintain the funeral home's facilities, equipment, and inventory, ensuring cleanliness, functionality, and compliance with safety standards.
  • Offer grief counseling and support services to families, connecting them with resources and assistance as needed.
  • Collaborate with clergy, cemeteries, florists, and other service providers to coordinate logistics and fulfill families' preferences.
  • Uphold ethical and legal standards in all aspects of funeral service, maintaining confidentiality and professionalism at all times.
  • Foster positive relationships within the community, representing McLane Funeral Home Services as a trusted and respected institution, upholding McLane Funeral Home's reputation for excellence.
